Canine Reproduction SeminarGuest Speaker H. T. "Tom" Holcomb, DVM
Dr. Holcomb biography:
Graduated Iowa State University in 1965 with DVM degree
Practiced in Bagley, IA for four years, primarily large animal; St. Paul, MN one year, small animal; presently in Adel, IA
Current practice is small animal only, with emphasis on hunting dogs, canine reproduction and wildlife rehabilitation
Trained in semen collection and freezing by International Canine Genetics (ICG)
Dr. Holcomb was the third semen freezing center opened by ICG, in 1989 (ICG was later bought out by Synbiotics, Inc and Dr Holcomb is now associated with Synbiotics, Inc.)
Contributor to Gun Dog Magazine for the last 27 years, writing a veterinary clinic question and answer column
Dr. Holcomb currently has three Beagles, a Lab, and a Pointer
The seminar will cover the evaluation of the estrus cycle of the bitch and use of that information to time various breeding strategies. Also semen collection and evaluation of the dog and options for use of the semen collected.
